DOROTHY VAUGHAN:
BREAKING RACIAL
AND
 GENDER BARRIERS IN NASA

Dorothy Vaughan broke a very important racial barrier in the 1950s by becoming the first African-American supervisor in the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). Although she was appointed this position, her greatest impact was through her remarkable work in the Space Race that put America on the moon first.
